Frozen dinners make the working world go round. From convenience of use to the ability to eat rapidly without having to worry about such things as flavor or enjoyment, artificially frozen food is what drives everyone from work-day to work-day, filling bellies with their caloric, false food. The Boston Market concoction called Meatloaf with Homestyle Mashed Potatoes and Gravy is one of those dinners; it bills itself as a 'Hearty Serving', and the food on the cover does indeed look hearty, served with a sprig of spinach and a twist of orange, and the potatoes have fluff; unfortunately, all of this is lacking in the finished product.
Meatloaf & Mashed Potatoes
Boston Market, according to the label proudly displayed on the red and white box, has been in business since 1985. The company maintains a website, mentioned on the back of the box; bostonmarketfrozen.com leads to a site touting the various varieties of dinners available, complete with a slideshow, as well as touting online coupons. Unfortunately, the food shown in the slideshow, as the food shown on the box itself, does not accurately convey what awaits when opening the box; two sad slabs of brown flesh and a white, featureless lump. Now, usually mashed potatoes in a frozen dinner aren't filled with waves and swirls, but this concoction particularly looks like flesh carved from a giant amoeba. After microwaving the concoction, it doesn't look much better, though the smell is vaguely pleasant.
