“Spelunky” is a game of many secrets. Having reviewed the game, went over several basic strategies, and discussed the unlockable score room mini-games there are two more secrets that many “Spelunky” players may have missed: the Black Market and the City of Gold. These two locations are very well hidden in the game and are impossible to find without a little guidance pointing the player in the right direction.

Finding the Black Market

The first step in finding the Black Market takes place in the first stage. In at least one of the stages, there will be a golden key. Players should grab this key immediately and use it as a weapon, as they would with the rock. However, they should also find the golden treasure chest located in the level. Touching the chest with the key opens the chest and gives the player the Udjat Eye. This item senses hidden gold and treasures in the wall and is very useful.
